About Us

ORM works with children & young adults that have been abandoned & orphaned, children with special needs and children with life limiting and palliative conditions in the Republic of Moldova. Our work began in 2000 having seen first hand the appalling conditions in which these children and young adults were living. Our work is very varied and we focus on providing life changing and life enhancing programmes. ORM provides programmes to upgrade living conditions, capital building projects, medical and surgical programmes, rehabilitation programmes, nutrition and medication programmes and these all run alongside our education, training and social programmes. We have a wonderful volunteer programme that has seen over 1000 Irish volunteers travel to Moldova over the last 10 years to work alongside our Moldovan staff in every capacity of child and health care. ORM employs over 250 Moldovan staff full time to provide the necessary medical and auxiliary care for children we work with 24 hours a day. ORM works with the ethos that every child deserves a childhood regardless of their condition or circumstance. A childhood that includes emotional stability and support from families and/or caregivers, safe and nurturing living conditions, appropriate medical care, proper nutrition, a right to education, a chance to meet their maximum potential and be recognised and respected in their community. ORM provides immediate and ongoing assistance where necessary. We assist in and develop long-term, self-sustaining programs that will have a positive and lasting impact in the lives of these wonderful children and their care givers. We also strive to provide for the communities working with these children. We work the belief that each life matters.
